You’re Teaching Your Cat To Do What?

I’ve never been a fan of teaching your cat to use a toilet. Sure, it can be done, but at some point, we have to remember that, while we love our pets, they’re still animals and their instincts aren’t geared to the humanization a lot of pet owners try to impose. :-)

We need to be willing to put up with the ‘cons’ of cats and be responsible pet owners that respect the animals we agree to care for. If you can’t change the litter in their box, then maybe you should consider a pet more suited to your desires, rather than have your cat perform circus tricks to spare you some trouble.

Today’s cat litter is pretty absorbent and if you get the fine-grained material, you can do a clean sweep and scoop up waste every day. There’s very little odour involved at all and wielding a slotted spatula really isn’t that hard. I think if cats need to put up with their owner’s idiosyncrasies of wrinkled noses, twisted faces and exclamations and mutters during a quick clean up, then owners should put up with the fact that cats like to squat and scratch, not balance and flush. :-)
