These Folks Specialize in Cat Care

The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) seeks to improve the health and well-being of cats by supporting standards of practice, continuing education, and scientific investigation.

Their website includes several valuable information resources for cat owners as well as veterinarians who see cats as part of their small animal practice. The site provides articles on good practice including currently information on pain management, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of bartonella, behavioral guidance, senior cat care, and many other topics of interest to cat owners and caregivers.

The AAFP resource page offers classifieds, publications, position papers, and information on grants for those desiring to apply for funding specific feline research.

One of the most valuable features of the site for cat owners is a Feline Special Referral List. You can find a feline practitioner in your area by entering your location and searching their database. You will get contact information for the feline specialist vet as well as a link to their web page, if they have one.
