Take a Pen in Your Hand and Write

If you enjoy writing and think that you can tell an interesting or informative story about your special feline friends, there is a web site to help you move that story idea into text for publication. The Cat Writer’s Association (CWA) is a membership group that encourages publishing information about cats in newspapers and magazines.

Have you seen these cat cookie jars?

They have an annual meeting and award contributors who have published outstanding communication about cats. Their web site offers information on pet writing groups, finding literary agents, copyright law, and copy protection. They also offer a mentoring program and the opportunity to network with other aspiring writers about cats.

During 2007, the international Cat Writers’ Association (CWA) will hold its 14th annual writing competition for published writers, photographers and editors in print, online and broadcast media.

To participate, you submit a copy of an article or story you have had published between June 15, 2006, and June 15, 2007. This can include something you have self published, published on-line, in a book, newspaper, or newsletter.

There is a fee associated with having your published work reviewed for the CWA award. You can read all the rules for having a publication considered for award on their website.

In addition, the CWA website has an extensive list of feline information resources. So, even if you are not writing for publication, you can learn a lot of new information about cats and the organizations that support them.
