Room for One More

Sometimes you do not know how you get into the situations you do. You are having a nice chat with a neighbor whose cat just happened to have had kittens; or, your 10 year old comes home from the park where he has been playing ball with his father carrying a small kitten; or 10 other scenarios.

However it happens to you, it does seem to happen with some frequency. And bingo - You have a new pet. Since this has happened to you before, you already have a cat or two or a pooch in the house. Now what?

Well here is some assistance from Amy Shojai, winner of the Winn Feline Foundation 2007 Media Award. In her 2005 bestselling book, " PETiquette: Solving Behavior Problems in Your Multi-Pet Household", she focuses on solving and preventing problems in multi-pet households.

The 256 page book from M. Evans and Company, Inc. gives clear and practical tips on feeding, bathing, sleeping arrangements, play time, and general care when you have more than one pet sharing your home and your attention.  This book clearly demonstrates why Ms. Shojai is a respected feline writer.

In addition to "PETiQuette: Solving Behavior Problems in Your Multi-Pet Household", Shojai has authored 21 other pet books including: "Complete Care for Your Aging Cat", "Complete Kitten Care", "Pet Care in the New Century: Cutting Edge Medicine for Dogs and Cats", and "The Purina Encyclopedia of Cat Care."

Shojai was the founder and past president of the Cat Writers’ Association and she also pens articles appearing in Catnip newsletter, a monthly publication aimed at cat owners and enthusiasts, regular newspaper articles, and internet columns.
