Cats Sell
Whether you are just beginning a new business or looking for ways to excite the response to your existing enterprise, you should consider using a cat in your advertising to attract attention and customers. Cats are eye catching. They do cute things, they have wonderfully expressive faces, and they have attitude.
We all know sample corporate advertisements for cat food that use cats in their advertisements such as Morris the Cat for Friskies or the beautiful white Persian for Fancy Feast.
But cat icons also work very well for other businesses. To see how some companies have successfully used cats to "brand" their products, you can see an entire collection of cats in advertisements at elves.net by Bartolomeo Mecánico.
According to the web site, cats are symbols of comfort and warmth, cleanliness, femininity, and discerning taste. If one of these concepts fits the image you want for your product or organization, using a cat in your advertising may be just the way to communicate your message.
You can approach using a cat in advertising by hiring the use of specially trained cats that can be photographed in appropriate environments and then caption with your business name and message. Or, you can make some of the same visual statements using graphic or artistic representations of cats.
This is where a graphic artist can be useful, especially one that specializes in animals. A simple line drawing of a cat’s back supports both an advertising brochure for an elegant dress design. Or, a cute kitten with a ball that says, "buy this and have fun".
Research has shown that people remember advertising logos and pictures better than they remember text - so maybe this is a good time to get feline into your business.
